The Assembly member for the Tatanaa electoral area in the La Nkwantanang municipal of the Greater Accra region, Hanson Tei Madjitey-Gizo, has initiated an aggressive desilting of drains in his area.
The essence is to free up the choke drains which results in flooding when the rains set in.
Speaking to Journalists at one of such desilting exercises around the Presec staff primary school which is in his electoral area, on Saturday March 2, 2024, he said sanitation is not the only challenge he has set out to solve but also security .
Aside these two challenges, he told Journalists unemployment is other worrying concern for him and he has taken steps to also address.
In order to kick-start some intervention towards addressing the unemployment situation, he revealed that he has personally employed some youth in the area I’m order to reduce this rather growing public concern even at the national level.
Mr Madjitey-Gizo, who is a first Assembly member, further delved into the perceived politicisation of the district assembly concept.
In his view, this perception has not affected the work of both honorable members, explaining that his short entrance to the Assembly had rather shown a unity of purpose towards working for their electorates.
Last Saturday’s desilting, also saw to some cleaning up of some markets and streets as well as clearing of weeds.
