The Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, on Tuesday emphasized the need for more investment in the training of teachers. This she observed would improve the quality of graduates churned out from the country’s teacher training institutions.
According to the Second Lady, there is a direct relationship between the quality of teachers and the academic output of students they produce.
She made this observations, when she addressed the 3rd Speech, Awards and Graduation Day of Association Community International School in Accra.
She said “it is important that the teacher training colleges are well resourced that that teachers will come out fully equipped to teach.”
The ceremony was under the theme “Providing Quality Basic Education, A necessary Investment for all”.
The Second Lady, stressed the need for society to see child training and education as a collective responsibility, instead of leaving it for government alone.
She called on parents not to just abandon their wards in schools, once they secure admissions for them but show a keen interest in their development.
The Second Lady later donated three laptop computers to well deserving students and teachers.
