MTN Ghana Has A New CEO

The MTN Group has appointed South Africa’s Serame Taukobong as the new Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana.

This was contained in a statement from the MTN Group released on Wednesday which stated that the appointment is to bolster its leadership structures within the Group and at its key operations in Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa.

MTN Ghana’s new CEO, Serame Taukobong was appointed group marketing and sales executive for MTN International in 2002, after joining from M-Net Channels, where he was marketing director. And two years after joining MTN, he became the COO at MTN Uganda.

In 2006, he assumed the role of sales and distribution executive at MTN Irancell, and in 2009 he became the CMO of MTN South Africa.

Meanwhile, Michael Ikpoki is leaving MTN Ghana and heading for his home country as the new CEO of MTN Nigeria.

Mr. Ikpoki becomes the first Nigerian CEO of MTN in that country. He is expected to consolidate the Nigerian business which is the largest after South Africa.

He will take over from Brett Goschen who has been appointed MTN Group’s Chief Finance officer. Mr. Goschen used to be the CEO of MTN Ghana.
