Even with what looked like an endorsement for the incumbent General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Buadu from bigwigs of the party, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), appears unperturbed.
Justin Kodua Frimpong alias (JFK), who is said to have pleasant human relations, has since picked nomination forms to contest for the General Secretary position.
While John Buadu, is simply relying on incumbency and experience, JFK is said to be drawing the bulk of his support from the party’s youth most of who feel they have not been rewarded by the Akufo-Addo government despite the effort they put in to securing a victory for the NPP in 2016 and 2020.
Mr Frimpong, said he had extensively consulted with the party’s leadership ahead of picking nomination forms for the contest.
“I have prayed, sought the face of the omniscient God/Allah, consulted widely, and also listened to the voices of the grassroots, the very bedrock of our party. I am pleased to inform our distinguished kingmakers that I have today picked my nomination forms to participate in the upcoming General Secretary race. In God/Allah I trust,” he said.
His strong administrative and managerial prowess is evidenced by the enormous transformations that have taken place at YEA under his stewardship.
Mr Frimpong’s earlier declaration to contest the NPP General Secretary position has been received with thunderous applause by many NPP members, followers and sympathizers who believe that change in the General Secretary’s position is necessary to invigorate party faithfuls, particularly the teeming youths, build bridges and form strong teams to make NPP more appealing to the Ghanaian electorates and to turn around its fortunes.
The current hung parliament and its adverse impact on government business is a great worry to many NPP sympathizers and financiers.
As the wind of change blows on the political landscape of Ghana in these turbulent times, many party faithful admit without reservations that NPP needs Mr Frimpong’s energy and strong disposition to mobilize and reenergize the base to make the breaking the 8 a reality.
