The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, has challenged authorities to arrest any NDC member for calling a member in the NPP as a Alhaji Pork Eater.
“I dare you to arrest him. After you do that, just prepare to arrest all of us as well, because we shall surely help you market your newfound title; ‘Alhaji Pork Eater’.” Stated Mr Gyamfi.
In a robust defence of former President John Mahama, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, took to social media platform X, to address recent derogatory attacks aimed at the NDC flagbearer.
His post underscores his discontent with what he labels as a coordinated effort by “fake news merchants” to malign former President Mahama, branding him as a “drunkard” in an attempt to undermine his legacy as a Nation Builder.
In his fiery response, Sammy Gyamfi, criticized the double standards of those attacking former President Mahama, referencing a comment made by an unnamed political opponent who labelled him a “Pork Eater.”
He characterized their response to such taunts as hypocritical, pointing out that while they may hurl insults at others, they are quick to seek protection from law enforcement when faced with backlash.
“Are you the only person with blood flowing through your veins?” Lawer Sammy Gyamfi challenged, emphasizing that the political landscape should allow for mutual criticism and accountability without resorting to intimidation tactics.
He further offered a daring proposal to the accuser, encouraging them to go ahead with any threats of arrest, promising that they could expect solidarity from the party and its supporters in the face of such actions.
“We dare you to arrest him,” Gyamfi stated. “After you do that, just prepare to arrest all of us as well, because we shall surely help you market your newfound title; ‘Alhaji Pork Eater.'”
The exchange marks a continuation of the heated political climate in Ghana as the nation gears up for future elections, with both major parties on high alert over the impact of social media narratives on public perception.
The NDC, positioning itself as a defender of Mahama’s reputation, asserts that it will not sit idly by while misinformation spreads.
As the rhetoric intensifies, political observers are watching closely to see how both the NDC and its rivals navigate the challenges posed by misinformation and personal attacks in the lead-up to key political events.
