The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage, has planned a series of regional lectures throughout Ghana on the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the death of His Excellency John Evans John Atta Mills, the only Ghanaian Head of State to have died while in office.
The regional lectures, will be held in all the 16 regions of Ghana, and have been clustered into five groups, including Northern Cluster, Central and Western Cluster, South-East Cluster, Middle Belt Cluster, as well as Ashanti and Eastern Cluster.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage and a former Minister of Health, Alex Percival Segbefia at a press conference in Accra on the theme; “Ten Years On: The Man John Evans Atta Mills”.
The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage, was birthed and duly incorporated on October 14, 2021 as a company limited by guarantee.
It is a not-for-profit, non-partisan, independent, charitable organization to promote President John Evans John Atta Mills unique view of society to cause positive actions in strengthening democratic values and human development and its vision to inspire humanity for a better society.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage, Alex Percival Segbefia, stated that the Northern Cluster of the lecture ,will be held on May 28, 2022, which comprises the five regions in northern Ghana, including Northern, Savannah, Upper West, Upper East, and North-East regions.
According to him, there will be five thematic speakers, they include Professor Stephen Kendie, who will speak on governance, Dr Charles Abugri, will speak on taxation, Dr. Vida Yakong, will also lecture on Gender and Inclusion.
Dr Doliwura Zakaria will talk on Youth in Leadership, Networking and Social Capital in the 21st century, as well as Dr Samuel Nkumbaan on Public Service, Human, and Social Development.
Mr Segbefia, further stated that the five thematic speakers represent the five regions that constitute the Northern sector cluster of regions for the regional lectures and the keynote address will be delivered by the Most Reverend Philip Naameh, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Tamale Catholic Diocese.
He added that the Local Organising Committee for this cluster will be chaired by Naa Alhassan Andani, former Executive Director of Stanbic Bank and member of the Advisory Council of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage.
He reiterated that the Central and Western Cluster comprises the Western and Central regions which will be chaired by Nana Brew-Butler, former Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Cape Coast. The Central/Western cluster lectures will be held in June at Cape Coast. The exact date will be announced by the Local Organising Committee sometime after the Tamale lecture.
“South-East Cluster comprises the Volta and Oti regions and will be held in September at Ho whiles Middle Belt Cluster comprises of four regions namely; Bono, Bono-East, Ahafo, and Western North regions which will also be held in November at Sunyani”. He added.
Mr Segbefia recapped that the Ashanti/Eastern cluster lectures, will end the 10th anniversary activities and will be held in Kumasi and the cluster comprises of Ashanti and Eastern regions.
He, therefore, encouraged Ghanaians to fully participate in the lectures when it gets to their turn in their clustered regions in memory of a unique, selfless, and distinguished President of Ghana, a man of character who stood tall and brought dignity, inclusiveness, and character into Ghanaian politics.
