Over 40, 000 Palestinians poured out to mourn the  killing of the Aljazeera Journalist , Shireen Abu Akleh, who was shot dead by Israeli forces, whiles in the line of duty at the occupied West bank .

This number of mourners according to the State of Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Abdul Fathah A.K Alsattari, was in far excess of the expectation of the Israelis who killed the innocent Journalist at the occupied West bank last week Wednesday .

The mourners, were made of up both Christians and Muslims, who wanted to pay their last respect and protest against the senseless killing of their compatriot.

Addressing a press conference on Monday in Accra  to speak against the violation and continues harassment of Palestinians by the Israelis, the ambassador, said the casket of the Aljazeera Journalist , Shireen Abu Akleh, was even attacked when it was taken from the hospital for burial at East Jerusalem.

He said, the Israelis were surprised that the slain Journalist, could pull such huge numbers when they thought about 100 to 150, would only show up to mourn her at East Jerusalem.

The ambassador, who said he knew the deceased Journalist personally, indicated that she was a Christian who lived up to her values by loving each one she came in contact with irrespective of their race.

“ What is happening in the State of Palestine is a complete abuse of the human rights of citizens, but the West has stood aside and watching whiles killings of innocent people are going on in Iraq, Venezuela, Cuba  and the rest “, he noted.

“We are hopeful and we know everything will be over soon. They steal our resources and turn around to say we are poor”, he added.

Since the killing of the journalist who was unarmed there have been wild condemnation and call for full scale investigation to punish the Israelis forces who did the unthinkable.

The Catholic church, has issued a statement condemning the act. They have described the attack on mourners by Israelis forces as disrespectful

The Palestinian have also welcomed international support for investigation but have indicated that they will not make Israel a partner in the investigation although Israeli authority have served notice of punishing officers who attacked the  mourners.

Present at the press conference was the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who condemned the killing.

He said, Shireen Abu Akley, showed courage and gained popularity for her bravery in covering war .

“The Journalist was a voice for ordinary people whose story about the occupation of Palestinian land needed to be told which she did dispassionately “, he added.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa, who  is also the ranking member of the Foreign Affairs committee of Parliament threw the support of his colleagues behind the Palestinians.

“ We stand with Palestinians in this time of pain and suffering, but we know truth will always stand”, he noted.

He applauded the position taken by human right groups  in Israeli who condemned their own government over the actions of the Israelis forces.
