The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully retrieved the lifeless body of a young schoolgirl from a pool of water in Kasoa on the night of Monday, June 23, 2025, following a distress call that prompted a swift rescue response.
The call was received at 2202 hours. The rescue team was promptly dispatched and arrived at the scene at 2228 hours, and after a coordinated operation, successfully retrieved the body at 2242 hours. The body was subsequently handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation.
The deceased, identified as Gloria Segoe, a student of Keta Business Senior High School, was reportedly in Kasoa to visit her boyfriend.
Preliminary information indicates that she got permission from school authorities to visit her grandmother in Agbozome but diverted to Kasoa instead.
The GNFS commends the swift efforts of its rescue personnel to ensure the dignified retrieval of the deceased under challenging conditions.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic incident and what may have led to her untimely passing.
