Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, popularly known as ‘Asabee’ has dismissed claims he has declared support for Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party.
In an interview on The Probe on Sunday to respond to the allegations, he said “No way! No way! I have not said anything.”
According to him, contrary to the claims, he is rather neutral and in support of unity within the party.
“I am backing the party as a strong united force and then whoever the party wants to lead us, my job as a chairman is to work with all of us to make him the President. I am neutral,” he stated.
Mr. Asamoah Boateng noted that as a party seeking to break the eight, the people seeking to be flagbearers of the party must sacrifice their ambition for one candidate.
“I have actually proposed something to the delegates and if they buy it, I will take it to the National Council. I believe it is history to be made, I mean no party has crossed three elections and we want to break it and that calls for huge sacrifices. I think they are all brothers and they can be talking and some of them can sacrifice their ambitions and give it to one person,” he said.
When questioned on who he thinks should sacrifice, Asabee said “I do not know. I am not going to say. They should be able to go into a room and negotiate and come to tell us.”
