Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Greater Regional Office, has denied retrieving the GHc50, 000 he donated to offset a huge debt it owed as rent to the owners of a property the party is using as its regional office in Accra.

The Herald has since sighted two letters addressed to Stanbic Bank – Junction Mall on January 13, 2023 with a total of the GHc150, 000 from an account bearing the name Water Banc Ghana Limited and owned by Mr Moore to offset part of the US$38,000 rent owed by the Greater Regional NDC office located at South Labadi Estates in Accra.

The documents revealed that the money was rather transferred into the NDC Greater Accra Regional account with the GCB Bank Limited, but not into the account of the owners of the property.

The documents, addressed to Branch Manager of the Stanbic Bank by Mr Moore, showed that the sums GHC50, 000 and GH100,000, were authorized in two tranches into the NDC account.

Amongst the document the ex-Adenta Member of Parliament (MP), sent to The Herald was one titled “Official rent receipt (NDC Greater Accra Regional Office) and dated Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

It had signatures of Mr Moore and one Nicholas Fumey, who acknowledged receipt of a cash amount of $3000 only, whereas Dennis Eyram Fumey, also received a cash amount of GHC260, 000.00 respectively, all being part payment of the rent owed by the NDC Greater Accra Region.

Same document, further mentioned that “an outstanding balance to be paid is $13,054.00”.

Mr Moore, denied changing his mind and retrieving the GH50, 000 from the party as being thrown about and found its way in The Herald publication on Wednesday.

According to him, aside from a donation from his personal account to the party, he told The Herald that he has spent some GHC260, 000 to renovate the place and also purchase furniture to stock the office at his personal expense.

Responding to Lawyer Dennis Eyram Fumey’s letter dated May 4, 2023, that he only received GHC200, 000 from the NDC regional office on the  March 14, 2023 being part payment of the total outstanding rent of the Thirty-Six Thousand Five Hundred and Three Dollars (US$36,503) due and owing as at  December 9, 2021”, Mr Moore acknowledge the mistake, but said the fault came from one Nicholas Fumey, who had received some monies, but failed to inform the lawyer.

He insisted he had not reneged on his promise to the party.
