The Minority Chief Whip, Kwame Agbodza, has called on sports entreprenuers and fans to support the Ghana Premier League.
Mr Agbodza says supporting the local league is the surest way to developing Ghana football. He was contributing to a statement in Parliament in honour of Medeama Sporting Club for winning the Ghana Premier League.
While congratulating the team, Mr Agbodza, who is also the Member of Parliament for Adaklu Constituency, observed that it is not enough for teams to assemble talented player, but they must also take a modern and scientific approach to running their football clubs and preparing players for the league.
He also expressed concern that local radio and television stations were devoting substantial airtime to promoting foreign football leagues to the detriment of the local league.
Mr Agbodza said if the same level of attention and detail was given by Ghanaian media to sports activities at home, he believes that supporters will be more enthusiastic about local teams and the Ghana Premier League.
