The Greater Accra Constituency Organizers Caucus of the National Democratic Congress, have admonished the government to tread cautiously in going after businessmen purported to have committed wrong.
They gave this admonishing on the back of the government’s flagship economic policy programme, the 24-hour work policy, which they argue will need businessmen to support in order for it to succeed.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday, May 9, 2025, the Deputy Secretary of the Caucus, Mr Ellis Amartei , expressed the view that many former appointees, have committed many crimes against the state and they are those who should be targeted.
His comments, is in view of the perceive targeting of some businessmen by the government with the intention to collapse them.
According to him, attempt to touch the businesses of indigenous Ghanaians, will not augur well for the business community and it has the tendency to send a wrong impression about Ghana to investors.
He, therefore called on the government to exercise restraint in the manner it wants to touch businessmen.
He singled out the Chief Executive Officer of the McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley, and said he is being harassed and intimidated for his perceived association with the past administration.
During open forum, the Chairman of the Caucus, Gad Akwerh, indicated that it is people in government who are using their public office to settle personal scores.
In his view, the government should not allow the conduct of a few appointees to wash away the goodwill that came with their commanding victory by calling them to order.
Meanwhile, an Accra High Court has, in a ruling reclaimed 16 acres of land from McDan back to the Ghana Airport Company Limited.
