Brogya Genfi should show maturity and not be a sour loser

The results of the just concluded national youth election of the National Democratic Congress in Cape Coast, left in its wake shocks and surprises that many are yet to come to terms with.

The outcome of the polls also reaffirms the beauty of democracy and the power of the delegates who, with just a thumbprint, can decide the fate of fabled political gladiators and heavyweights.

Prior to the election, a lot of political observers had attributed larger than life influence to some of the contestants, especially Brogya Genfi, who was vying for the second time the position of the national youth organizer. His endorsement by some party big wigs created the impression that their word is enough to ensure victory at the polls, but the delegates had a different idea.

A statement on Monday from Brogya Genfi, who is yet to come to terms with his loss, started the making the rounds on social, as well as mainstream media.

Part of the statement read,“The processes leading to the 10th National Youth and Women’s Conference was fraught with deliberate manipulation of the delegates list to favour the incumbent. This was in violation of express decisions and orders of Courts of competent jurisdiction and the directives of the NDC.

I sincerely think that the party must take concrete steps to ensure that our rules and regulations are respected and not skewed to the advantage of anybody.

For the records, the election of National Youth Organizer of the NDC is far from over”.

Coming from an executive of the party, who was trying to climb up the leadership ladder, this threat should worry the teeming youth of the party, who exercised their franchise in a free and fair manner.

In the considered opinion of this newspaper, the resort to unfounded allegations and threats by Brogya Gyenfi, poses serious impediments to the future of the party and provides ammunition to its opponents, especially the New Patriotic Party.

It is disappointing, in our view, that while the country is facing severe life-threatening challenges arising from growing economic crisis brought about by the clueless Akufo-Addo government, some politicians have their minds set on other matters of a selfish hue.

it appears some politicians have an entirely different take as they continue to act in ways and manners that have the tendency to jeopardize the desire of most Ghanaians, who are praying for the return of the National Democratic Congress to rescue them.
