The President of a political Tink Tank , Arise for Change Of Economic Growth (ACEG), Mr Dauda Seidu Mahama , has said that the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has proven to be incompetent..
He said, it is unacceptable for him to be paraded as an economist whizkid and for him to still supervise the country retrogress in the manner it has .
“Under the current government led by the NPP and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana has faced unprecedented economic hardship”, he stressed.
His performance is against the tag his placed on the former President John Dramani Mahama, as being incompetent and promised to do better.
In his analysis, the blame the government under its head of Economic Management Team, does not hold water.
“Despite their claims that the challenges stem from external factors such as COVID-19 and the Ukraine war, I will therefore say that Ghana has benefited from COVID-19 because we have introduced tax for it”, he argued.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on December 4, 2024, Mr Mahama, said the permanence of Dr Bawumia as an economist leaves the former, Mr John Dramani Mahama, as a better manager of the economy .
For him, this must give Ghanaians the option of making better leadership choices, as the country goes to the polls on December 7.
“We must recognize that Ghana, with its vast natural resources, is capable of surviving global storms with the right leadership”, he intimated.
“Sadly, this administration has squandered our natural wealth, selling off national assets like Ghana Telecom, Ghana Airways, and other vital industries while accumulating a staggering debt of over 750 billion Ghana cedis with little to show in terms of development”, he pointed out.
In view of the issues raised, he called on all Ghanaian voters to reflect deeply on the realities they face and not being allowed to be influenced by the short-term allure of money or false promises from the NPP.
The hardships created by the government, according to him, cannot be solved with temporary handouts.
“We have seen fuel prices skyrocket, leading to rise in transportation costs and, in turn, the prices of goods and services”, he noted.
