The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, instead of thinking of how Senior High Schools would be fed is busily pursuing his desperate agenda of becoming the running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, should he emerge as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 election.
The minister who is fumbling with affairs at the education sector played the ‘Good Boy’ game on the Birthday of Ghana’s Second Lady, Samira Bawumia.
In a move to get the attention of the Bawumias, Dr. Adutwum designed a birthday flier for the Second Lady and circulated it widely last Sunday.
The flier with the Second Lady in a traditional clothe read: ‘’Happy Birthday Samira Bawumia, Second Lady of Ghana’’ and beneath it was the name of Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum who now goes with the acronym ‘YOA’.
Hours after that attention seeking move then some list of potential running mate to Dr. Bawumia popped up with Dr. Adutwum being the number one on the list.
New Patriotic Party (NPP) insiders are pointing fingers at persons closer to the education minister for the act which is likely to create confusion within the NPP and government.
The minister during the campaign tour of Dr. Bawumia to his constituency in addressing the delegates, massaged the ego of the Vice President, saying that they should expect the Vice President to do what they have been praying should he win to become the flagbearer of the NPP.
The party delegate present understood what he said to be the prayer in his area that he is made the running mate in the future.
Meanwhile, Senior High Schools in the country are going through hard times with feeding as schools survive on tombrown and milk power.
Food suppliers to the schools are on the neck of the National Buffer Stock Company over non-payment of arrears owed them.
