Permit me to call president Akufo-Addo, a liar. There are many things and promises he has made and failed to fulfill that makes him a liar.
John C. Maxwell has described a leader as one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Akufo-Addo, is not a leader, he is not because he lied his way to power.
It is a simple known fact that, politicians only care about power, and so when they come to you telling you, they will do AB and C, the only thing at the back of the mind is power, but despite this truism, they is an age old military that captures who a leader is succinctly “There are three types of leaders: Those who make things happen; those who watch things happen; and those who wonder what happened.”
A president, who lies, wonders and wanders about, he doesn’t really know what is going on in his administration, lies are packaged and given to him and true to his nature, he delivers without knowing he was lied to by his appointees.
The man speaks eloquently, so when you don’t pay attention and scrutinize his words, you will go away thinking our president is intelligent and a man of his words.
Anytime he appears on Television or am listening to the news on radio and his voice is played, I immediately change the station or tune out because, I can’t listen to someone, who never practice what he preaches.
In opposition, every action or decision taken by the previous government that he criticized and went ahead to promise never to repeat, not only has he doubled it, but done it with impunity.
As a country, since 1992 when we ushered in the 1992 Constitution, we have made progress in every aspect of our national life, successive governments have fought corruption, with conviction although it is a canker that is refusing to go away, but under this government every gain has been eroded because the president, who is to send a strong warning to his appointees, has been clearing his appointees, who have been found culpable or alleged to have misconducted themselves.
President Akufo-Addo’s anti-corruption profile has faded, this is a man we were told is not corrupt and has never been corrupt.
In all his campaigns for president since 2008, Akufo-Addo ran on an anti-corruption platform, everywhere he went, he affirmed with tired, clichéd reductionism that all the problems of Ghana and Ghanaians boiled down to corruption and that President John Dramani Mahama, has lost the fight on corruption and yet after getting the mandate, the only people who are capable of corruption are those who are outside his government and party.
President Akufo-Addo’s thinking of is that corruption is the preserve vice of outsiders. It is what other people do. And it is what his disciples are incapable of doing.
The president has the strong notion that human beings rise to infallibility by the virtue of their presence in his immaculate orbit
This fallacy in his head filters out accusations of corruption against his aides. Thus, he is irritated by any suggestion that one of his men could be guilty of indiscretion. It makes him poised to dismiss accusations of wrongdoing raised against his any member of his team as politically motivated attacks on his person and the government.
Akufo-Addo’s narcissistic obsession with the optics of moral invincibility has served to make him a self-employed, full time custodian of an illusory ideal. He feels obligated to protect and insure the integrity of his entire staff. This sense of false duty has expanded into an amorphous policy of blind spot favoritism, a touch-not-my-anointed exemption arrangement that guarantees his men immunity from rigorous scrutiny.
He argued that the powers of the highest office in the land must be exercised in an earnest ‘war on corruption’ for Ghana to recover its promise.
A most recent example is the case involving his minster of health, Kweku Agyeman Manu, who entered into a contract with Sheikh Al – Maktoum of Dubai, to supply the country with Sputnik V vaccine.
A probe by a Parliamentary Committee revealed that government paid Dubai-based businessman Sheik Al – Maktoum GHS16 million for the vaccines despite claims by the Health Minister under oath that, “to the best of my knowledge, we haven’t done any payment”.
When the president was minded to speak to the issue during his tour of the Bono Region, the President jokingly mentioned the intense public criticisms against Health Minister Agyeman-Manu during his speech at a durbar on Tuesday.
Tagging the Minister as an important player in his government, the President, said, “Mr Agyeman-Manu, has endured a lot of suffering to stabilise the health sector, despite his efforts, he is receiving slaps” from a section of Ghanaians.
President Akufo-Addo, only grudged a forced, modulated response which doesn’t jibe well with his vaunted hostility to sleaze.
The litmus test of the sincerity of President Akufo-Addo’s pledge to the effect that, he won’t run a family and friends government is supposed to be the extent to which, he keeps his family and friends away from his government.
But unfortunately, four out of every ten appointments he is made since becoming president, are either family members or friends.
The state of insecurity in the country, flies in the face of the promise he made to protect lives and properties, now never a crime is committed in this country, without the mention of National Security. A once revered institution, has become the butt of many jokes. Individuals have been recruited into National Service, who do not have the character, temperament and the qualification required to be at the National Security and yet the president seem unconcern.
He also promised among other things to ease the burden of Ghanaians, who he said were suffocating under mismanagement and the economic hardship, he opine that, yeti sika su, nanso yebre, to wit we are sitting on money, yet we are suffering.
What Ghanaians didn’t know was that, he was the one suffering then and was just looking for the opportunity to enrich himself and his family. He promised to protect the public purse and now he travels in luxurious private jet which costs the tax payer between $12,000 and $16,000 an hour.
I do not have to listen to him, because it is obvious he doesn’t believe whatever he says himself. My temperature only goes up anytime I hear his voice, so I have decided I won’t die because of him. He is a man who is full of deception.
