In fulfilling its mandate of serving to save humanity, Relief and Aid International, a non-profit organization committed to providing assistance and support to students in need, has presented scholarship support to 30 underprivileged students.
The 30 beneficiaries, were made up of three (3) Medical students, eighteen (18) Nursing students, two (2) Accounting students, one (1) Marketing student, two (2) Political Science student, three (3) Law students and one (1) Agric Science student.
The scholarship programme aimed at empowering and supporting brilliant but needy deserving students in their pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence to cater for their fees and other education needs.
The event was under the theme; “Bringing hope and empowering tomorrow’s leaders.” sought to nurture the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers in Ghana and beyond.
At the official launch of the educational scholarship scheme in Accra, the founder and President of Relief and Aid International, Madam Peggy Naa Ayikailey Adamafio, underscored the transformative power of education and the organization’s commitment to supporting deserving students in their pursuit of academic excellence.
“I believe that education is the key to unlocking a bright and prosperous future for individuals and communities alike,” Madam Adamafio stated.
She emphasized that education is the key to a prosperous future, underlining its ability to transform lives and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.
Madam Adamafio, called upon the community to join hands in this noble cause, emphasizing the importance of investing in the youth who will shape the future.
She urged beneficiaries of the programme to approach their studies with diligence and commitment, and encouraged them to give back to society in the future, expressing her vision of seeing these students excel not only in Ghana but also on a global scale in the field of education.
While currently funding the programme independently, she emphasized the need for a sustainable approach to ensure continuity and support for future students and called on Ghanaians to participate in this educational empowerment journey, highlighting the collective responsibility to contribute towards building a better society and securing a brighter future for all.
In his keynote address, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Prof. Ransford Gyampo, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Madam Peggy Naa Ayikailey Adamafio for the wonderful programme she has initiated and for not showcasing her worth via social media but rather using it to help the needy in society.
He emphasized the importance of the government collaborating with individuals like Madam Adamafio to empower such benevolent figures to support talented yet financially constrained students to alleviate the country’s educational burdens.
The Political Science lecturer shared his personal story as a beneficiary of the financial educational scholarship offered to him by a man who is not his biological father and underscored the pivotal role of individuals like Madam Adamafio in nurturing future leaders for Ghana.
Prof. Gyampo, therefore advocates for governmental recognition and support of such philanthropists not only to foster a culture of giving but also to inspire others to contribute to nation-building efforts.
Moreover, the Professor urged scholarship beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity given to them to study diligently, reminding them that the assistance provided is temporary. By making the most of the resources available, they can secure a brighter future for themselves and contribute positively to society.
On his part, a Statesman and a former Ghanaian Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, calls for a return to principles of integrity in Ghana, emphasizing the importance of honesty, respect, equality, and solidarity.
He criticizes the current lack of integrity in the country, citing instances of scholarships meant for the needy being awarded to those who are well-off.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, praised the founder and President of Relief and Aid International, Madam Peggy Naa Ayikailey Adamafio for national recognition and vows to ensure she receives a national award during his lifetime.
