A chairman hopeful for the Ashiaman constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Salifu Zakaria, has said he can win 100,000 votes for the biggest opposition party if voted for in the upcoming polls on Saturday, 21 October 2022.

Zakaria claims he holds the key to maximising votes for the party in the 2024 general elections in the Ashaiman municipality.

To make things work in the municipality, “Ashaiman needs a new breath of air to rejuvenate the base of the party going into the 2024 general elections,” Mr Zakaria said.

“So, vote for me to garner 100, 000 votes for the NDC,” he appealed.

He said he wants to work hard to add 30,000 more votes to the 70,000 the party polled in the last election.

The former national security operative made this appeal when he spoke in an interview with Emmanuel Quarshie (The Hitman), host of Accra 100.5 FM’s morning show Ghana Yensom on Wednesday, 19 October 2022.

He said the NDC in Ashaiman deserves better and he is the man to deliver the needed leadership.

“I am the only candidate in the race for the Ashaiman constituency who can penetrate the folds of the governing New Patriotic Party and maximise votes for the NDC,” he asserted.

“I want to move NDC’s votes from 70,000 to 100,000 by 2024,” he added.

He also explained that the days when “monkeys worked for baboons to chop” will be a thing of the past under his administration.

“Under my administration, everybody must soil his or her hands”, he said, adding that the youth will be trained to voluntarily work for the party so they could be rewarded by the party if it wins power.

He pledged to change the dynamics of Ashaiman politics, stating that the NDC’s problems in Ashaiman were one of leadership
