The Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has said he would contest the General Secretary position of the party because the incumbent, Johnson Asiedu Nketia will not be running.

“In the last NDC elections I said I will run if ‘General Mosquito’ will not be running for the position of General Secretary but because of a privileged information from the camp of the General Secretary, I didn’t run in that elections,” he explained on the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra100.5FM.

“First, I said if General Mosquito will run I won’t run but now that I am telling you that I will run, it means a lot. If a blind man says he will pelt you with a stone, he knows what he is standing on,” he said.

However, there are reports General Mosquito wants the top management position of the party as the National Chairman.

So far the former Deputy Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Ketu South in the Volta Region, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has declared his intention to run for the position of General Secretary.
