….To pay its customers
Gold dealership firm, Menzgold, last Friday, handed an amount of GH₵5 million to the Ghana Police Service to begin payment of its customers.
From this week, the Ghana Police Service is expected to supervise the payment of the customers whom the company mentioned have adhered to the protocols and validation processes which sparked a furore some two months ago, after its announcement by the company.
The police, have yet to publicly acknowledge receipt of the money and announce the dates to give out the money to customers.
In August, the office of the Attorney General, came under pressure after many, who questioned why there had been little progress in the case against Nana Appiah Mensah alias “NAM 1”.
This is after Appiah Mensah, revealed plans to pay locked-up funds of his aggrieved customers on condition that they make a payment of about GH¢ 650 to be verified.
The Attorney General, was forced to file a nolle prosequi in the case against the Menzgold boss and replaced it with fresh charges.
It is not clear, what will happen to the case now that payment has begun.
However, according to Menzgold, the payment marks a significant stride in resolving the enduring concerns of those who found their investments locked.
The development, follows the company’s earlier announcement that it would commence the payment of matured investments on Friday, October 20, 2023.
According to the report, Nana Appiah Mensah personally oversaw the handover of GH₵5 million to the Police.
The amount is set to be distributed to customers who have followed the company’s protocols and validation processes during the settlement period.
Eligible customers are urged to strictly adhere to the dates provided to them during the completion of the necessary forms to ensure a smooth and efficient disbursement of their funds.
Menzgold, is said to be in the process of furnishing police with a list of customers scheduled to receive payments.
