Gyedu Blay Ambuley is grandpapa of rap in Ghana, not Reggie Rockson – Ayesem

Ghanaian rapper Ayesem has opined that no region in Ghana can boast of lyricists and rappers more than Takoradi.

In his view, the best rappers to ever come from Ghana hail from or have roots in the harbour city, Takoradi.

Speaking as a guest on the 3FM drive with Giovani, Ayesem bragged that he can prove beyond reasonable doubt that modern-day rap in Ghana hailed from the city before Reggie Rockstone came to name it hiplife.

He mentioned legendary hi-life musician Gyedu Blay Ambuley as the true originator of rap and echoed that no rapper can stand in a one-on-one battle with talent from Taadi.

Ayesem was in the studios of 3FM to promote his latest song titled Julie. Julie is a social song that addresses teenage pregnancy and the childbearing menace that plagues the country.

The rapper also hinted at embarking on a senior high school across the country to educate young girls on the topic.

He took the opportunity to solicit support claiming that his tour will be free of charge and solely funded by his team.
