Three persons suspected to be thugs of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Elmina have allegedly vandalised the studio of Benya FM.
The thugs, allegedly, carried out their attack on Monday night while the Elmina-based station’s weekly programme “Afar Kua” was being held.
The programme was discussing issues concerning the availability of premix for fishermen in the town when the attack happened.
Though not quite sure what their motivation was, the suspected thugs, who were three in number, allegedly stormed the studio and held the host hostage.
A social media post by the programmes manager of the station, Kweku Kaunda indicated that the host was brutally assaulted as he was kicked and knocked several times leaving him in pain.
Studio equipment vandalised
According to the manager, the station’s equipment such as consoles, microphones, computers and furniture were all destroyed. Other items not left out of the destruction include studio tables among others.
The case has since been reported to the police for further action to be taken.
