Amid Transfer Turmoil…
His future is up in the air as he looks set to transfer from Manchester United to another club.
But it seems that Wayne Rooney has more to think about that just his footballing career, as wife Coleen has reportedly asked him not to move abroad, despite the fact that he could be sold to a foreign team.
The mother-of-two, who is said to be pushing for Wayne’s move to Chelsea FC, hit back at Twitter trolls on Wednesday after angry football fans bombarded her with comments about her family.
The 27-year-old striker is currently in transfer turmoil as his current team are not prepared to sell him to a Premier League rival, meaning that a move to Paris Saint-Germain may be his best option.
But wife Coleen does not want to leave the country, according to reports, and will only consider a move to a British team so that she’s not away from her family.
‘It’s causing Wayne and Coleen quite a bit of stress. They don’t want to move abroad. But if he can’t force a move to Chelsea they might have to. They have a lot of thinking to do,’ a source told The Sun.
‘United have said that, if they sell him, it would only be to a club abroad, making PSG the most likely destination,’ they added.
And it seems that if Wayne were to move abroad commuting might mean that he won’t have to move his entire family.
‘Wayne would either have to commute to Paris by private jet from their home in Cheshire, or go and live alone in a hotel,’ said the source.
Coleen, who gave birth to the couple’s second son Klay just two months ago, was also having to deal with Twitter abuse from Manchester United fans this week.
The star retweeted an offensive post about her children from a football supporter, following it up by writing: ‘Grow up you gang of cranks!!’
She then decided to put the vile abuse behind her, posting: ‘Hahahaha love a little twitter rant!!! Everyone has there own opinion!! Fair enough!! Now time to enjoy this beautiful weather!! #bye.’
Clearly sick of fielding angry comments for her husband, she decided to respond to various tweets by directing them to Wayne’s Twitter account.
‘Tell your husband that he’s no longer welcome at United,’ wrote one football fan. ‘You tell him mate,’ she responded.
Chelsea FC put in an official offer of around £22 million to secure Rooney after sources revealed that he was ready to submit a written transfer request.
While the offer was rejected, it is thought that Jose Mourinho will up it to £30 million.
