The Auditor-General has recommended that the Zongo Development Fund get a permanent office for its operations after discovering that it spends more than $5,000 per month on rent.
In its 2021 report, the Auditor-General said: “Contrary to Section 7 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), we noted that the Zongo Development Fund (ZoDF) does not have a permanent accommodation”.
“It operates from a rented premises at a cost of USD 5,208.00 (GH¢29,551.75) per month”, the report added.
“We also noted that between August 2020 and August 2022, the Fund paid USD 125,000.00 (GH¢709,287.50) as rent”, the report said.
“We recommended to the management, as a matter of urgency, to consider a permanent accommodation to avoid continuous payment of rent”, the report noted.
