The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has implemented additional restrictions to improve the deteriorating security situation in Bawku.
The REGSEC convened an emergency meeting on Monday (19 September 2022), following renewed fighting in the area.
Sources say about nine deaths have been recorded in the latest fighting in the Bawku area.
The REGSEC in a statement after the meeting announced the extension of the curfew to the Nayoka, Kpalgu and Manga communities.
The statement announced the temporal banning of “Yellow Yellow” operations within the municipality until further notice.
It also said, “The police, Ghana Immigration Service and the military are allowed to use official motorbikes between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.”
