Coalition of Concerned University postpones protest amidst claims of police intimidation

The Ghana Police has taken on the British High Commissioner to Ghana Harriet Thompson over her tweet following the arrest of Oliver Barkawor.

After Mr Barker-Vormawor was arrested on May 17 for traffic Offense in Accra, the British diplomat tweeted: “Oliver Barker Vormawor, convener of #FixTheCountry movement, arrested again, I understand for a motoring offence on his way to court. I’ll be interested to see where this goes…”.

The Police in a letter to the High Commissioner amounted to interference in internal security matters of Ghana.

“We consider your tweet on Oliver Barker-Vormawor’s arrest for traffic offenses a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations”.
