The Office of the Special Prosecutor says it has commenced investigations into a suspected case of corruption offences against the late Forestry Commission Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie on his supposed acquired State Land at the Achimota Forest.
The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary also known as Sir John as part of his will to his family members mentioned five acres of the Achimota land as his own and willed to the family.
However, the Lands and Forestry Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor in a statement dated 24TH May, 2022 disclosed that the said lands will not be given to Sir John’s family.
The Minister also said the lands will continue to be property of the state despite the fact that the Will is being contested in court.
The Minister also reiterated details of the land acquired cannot be found at the Lands Commissions.
The Special Prosecutor in a release date May 26, 2022 has indicated that the Ministry of Lands and Forestry has been directed to cooperate with the investigation of the alleged land for Sir John.
