Second chances. Not everyone deserves them, but Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had another chance not to lie again. But as it is said, wash a pig, cloth a pig and it will remain a pig.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, can lie, he lied his way into power and is still lying to remain in power.
He was so obsessed with the presidency, he didn’t care which lie to tell provided he will be voted for.
In his first inaugural speech, when he took the oath of office, which he swore to do right by Ghanaians, he plagiarized a speech, he delivered it so eloquently that, you will think it is his thought, only for the veil to be stripped and scrutinized and then it came to pass that, he stole those lines.
What the president has done and continues to do is insulting to the sensibilities of Ghanaians, who are known to be innovative and resourceful. President Akufo-Addo, has lowered the bar with people now beginning to question the ingenuity of Ghanaians.
As a good and experience leader, you must always cross-check whatever is written for you to read, because the shame is on you, when you get something wrong. Nana Akufo-Addo, is coming across as one who is not prepared for the highest office of the land, and if he does at all, it is the privileges that comes with his office, like flying a private jet costing the tax payer more than 18,000 dollars an hour.
The serial breakdown of Akufo-Addo’s lies should compel a wakeup call and paradigm shift to Ghanaians as we search for our next president. Some things are certain in our idea of the next president, at least, in terms of proven track record, age, health and vitality, these should be our cardinal guide.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, while delivering the 2022 State of the Nation Address on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, said his government has delivered the most kilometers of new roads compared to all other governments in the fourth republic. He further described it as “unprecedented.”
According to him “Some ten thousand, eight hundred and seventy-five (10,875) kilometres of new roads have been constructed in these five (5) years. Let me mention that yesterday, it was my honour and great pleasure to have commissioned the Tamale Interchange, the first such interchange in the northern sector of our country, which the people of Tamale celebrated. I considered it to be a most satisfying birthday present”.
The rascality with which this claim was made exposes the president as not being in touch with reality. The track record of president Akufo-Addo portrays him as an unprincipled politician and one with the born-to-rule mentality who wants the Presidency.
This is the president who can’t be trusted to say or do anything right. Every promise he made since becoming president, has never been fulfilled, even the ones he made in opposition, had to be modified, or abandoned completely.
It will take a president, whose currency of knowledge is low to make a wild claim that his government has constructed almost 11,000 kilometers of road. How many times will the president allow himself to be misled by his appointees, this is not the first time and will certainly not be the last, this behavior could only describe an absent and unserious president, who only enjoys being referred to as the Commander In Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Nana Akufo-Addo, is there any offense committed by Ghanaians that has warranted this unfortunate bitter experience?
Should the president say Ghanaians did not believe in his capacity by voting him into power? Should Ghana now blame herself for voting the NPP into power?
As Ghanaians we should also ask ourselves why is it that what we have been hearing from Akufo-Addo, even after six years in office is propaganda that cannot stand the test of time?
If you think or you have ever thought that Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP, would be the harbinger of the desired change in Ghana, you definitely need a rethink. Thereafter, if you still believe such, it is best you go to bed, sleep, and activate dream mode!
Ghanaian voters hired Akufo-Addo for a term of four years on the basis of the mutual understanding that he will as part of his mandate be honest with them, but the lies are becoming one too many.
Truth has to be injected into this escalating confusion. The country cannot continue to be held hostage by a guessing game and lie. Akufo-Addo, must at all times strive to come clean so that the structures of governance can reconcile with our situation and adapt to the corresponding exigency.
Akufo-Addo is seen as lacking in the complex and advanced knowledge required to negotiate the country out of the socio-economic abyss, in a techno-economic world. Like the traditional politician, he could only be strong in deal-making, with the same predatory oligarchy, which would still leave the populace in the cold.
When a lot of people, including those who knew him personally warned us, everyone kept quiet because of our hatred for John Dramani Mahama, thus we are all complicit in the ‘shithole’ we find ourselves in.
President John Agyekum Kufuor, was right not to trust Akufo-Addo to succeed him first as the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and secondly as the president of Ghana, he warned the delegates of his party, but that age old cliché ‘ye nim wo fir titi’ is what has served us this cold dish of a president.
