Shandong Gold Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited has on Friday, 1st April 2022, donated an amount of $50,000 as their contribution towards the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Appiatse community.

Speaking during the presentation, the Board Chairman of the Company, Mr. Zang Hongxun asserted that the management of Shandong Gold/Cardinal Mining Limited attach a lot of importance to the severity of the disaster and after several meetings, a decision was taken to make such donation to the Support Fund.

He hoped that their donation will help with the rehabilitation of the community after the disaster, while extending their condolences to all the victims and families that were affected with the disaster.

”We hope that Appiaste community will be reconstructed as soon as possible so that all the people involved will get back to their feet and have a happy life again.”

The Board Chairman employed the opportunity to extend his appreciation to all parties who showed support to the development of the Shandong Gold Group project in Ghana, disclosing that the company is a year old in the country.

He also hoped that the construction and development of the project, will soon be completed for the benefit and interest of the local communities and individuals around.

In her remark of appreciation, the Chairman of Appiatse Support Fund, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee acknowledged the hefty amount of $50,000 presented by the team and highly commended the company saying that they have proven to be a part of the Ghana Chamber of Mines who are noted for being responsible and supportive partners of government.

She assured the team that they will soon see the results of their contribution as the Appiatse Reconstruction Implementation Committee has been working tirelessly to ensure that work on the reconstruction of Appiatse starts in this month of April.

“The Appiatse Reconstruction and Implementation Committee has done a lot of work and so we know that this month, things are going to happen at the site and you are all going to realise that you haven’t paid money in vain,” she reassured.

Madam Joyce Aryee, however, craved the indulgence of the team and all others who have donated so far, noting that “Reconstructing of a town is not an easy task and even as a mining company you know that resettlement is not a question of six months or one year.”

She added that regardless of how huge the task ahead promises to be, they will do their best to help the people return to a normal life as much as possible and this she said the President is determined to follow through to the latter.

Also with the team from Shandong Gold/ Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited were Mr. Malik Easah, an Executive Director of the Board, Eqs. Victoria Awuni, the Legal Superintendent and Head of Corporate Affairs and Mr. Ahmed Nantomah, a representative from the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
