Political advancement versus career growth

Political advancement versus career growth

By George Krobea Asante

It is interesting to note that when John Boadu visited the Bono Region recently, his “spokesperson,” Abronye DC, with a mischievous intent, rhetorically inquired why the young innovative Lawyer, Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK), would leave his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency to contest the position of the General Secretary of the NPP.

In fact, the rhetoric question was not just extraneous but was also comical, having come from someone of the calibre of Abronye.

One could clearly notice that Abronye was bereft of any meaningful message at the gathering. He was simply not serious with the delegates as he embarrassed himself and exposed his ignorance and dishonesty in no small measure.

NPP polls: Regional elections were generally successful, says Boadu

May 31, 2022

Abronye must be reminded that in the year 2008, all the 17 high-profile personalities who felt qualified and competent to replace former President John Agyekum Kuffour as President, had lucrative career and juicy political appointments just like Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK) who is CEO of YEA. They, however, surrendered all for the love of the party. That was true patriotism in line with the tradition of the New Patriotic Party!

In fact, if Abronye is not questioning why Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) didn’t resign as the Deputy CEO of the National Service Secretariat, and why Dr. Kingsley Nyarko also didn’t resign as the Executive Secretary to the National Accreditation Board to contest the National Youth Organiser of the NPP in 2018 and the Member of Parliament for the Kwadaso Constituency respectively, then Abronye DC has no rectitude to ridicule the decision of Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua. Our party has records of a host of individuals who surrendered and indeed, continue to sacrifice, their personal interests for the good of the NPP Party.

In actual fact, if Abronye’s sense of objectivity had not be darkened and closed by malice, mischief, and deceit, he would have known that. Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi was the Executive Secretary of the Free Zones when he contested and won the seat of New Juaben South Constituency as the Member of Parliament. Currently, Hon. Alan K. Kyeremateng, and Hon. Akoto Afriyie, who are Sector Ministers in this government have declared their respective interests in the flagbearership of our party, and have been engaging stakeholders accordingly.

It is a pity that Abronye has sacrificed his moral integrity on the altar of *political expediency*. This is sad!

Abronye must be serious with issues that relate to NPP’s agenda of *breaking the eight years’ governance cycle* and stop the hippodrome comic display.

Why is Abronye surprised that JFK would resign his position to actively offer his services to our great NPP and apply his expertise and competence to make the party attractive to the Ghanaian electorates?

JFK, like others, is displaying a high sense of patriotism and selflessness. Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua truly resonates with the tradition of our party — *being patriotic*!

Abronye should stop exposing himself to public ridicule.
