The President of the West Africa chapter of Montessori Model of the United Nation, Nii Ayitey Anumle Oyanka I, has encouraged parents to start educating their children using the Montessori models.
According to him, Montessori models of teaching and learning, have proven to be more enhanced which contributes to the discovery of the gifts and talents of school children at an early age for nation-building.
He said, the current crop of leaders have not lived up to the needed expectation and it requires the upcoming children to be trained in a certain way, in order to offer the best leadership for the future .
In order to achieve this future, he made the point that there was the need to put the children in schools programme such as the Montessori Model to be able to prepare the kids and lay the foundation for them.
Speaking at the inauguration of the West Africa headquarters of the Montessori Model of the United Nation in Accra on Monday, March 11, 2024, Nii Oyanka, stressed the importance of also training teachers in Montessori Models, in order to impact and produce more children in this aspect of learning.
The inauguration was under the theme” Role of Montessori Education, Uplifting Citizens for Global Education “.
The Montessori Model of the United Nation, which has been operating for 19 years now, is coming to West Africa for the first time due to the instrumentality and influence of Nii Ayitey Anumle Oyanka 1.
The inauguration of the headquarters, therefore paves way for more work of the President of the West Africa Montessori Model to bring on-board other countries in West Africa
Already, Liberia has been introduced to the Model and taking steps to roll the programme out to reach the targeted school children.
Similarly, Nii Oyanka, gave the assurance that children in deprived areas in Ghana have been targeted to benefit from the support which the programme offers in the areas of teaching and learning.
Aside the inauguration of the Montessori Model headquarters office, the event was also used to outdoor the International Relations Director for Montessori Model of the United Nation for West Africa, Mr. Richard Flynn.
In a speech after his outdooring, Mr Flynn, pledged to work with the diplomatic community and government officials to achieve satisfactory results as an ambassador.
He also pledged to promote and advocate for educational policies that will inure to the benefit of the kids and also partners other international educational institutions.
The event brought to together chiefs, queenmothers, the clergy, opinion leaders and security chiefs who graced the occasion.
Also present were some directors of education from various municipal assemblies.
Representing the Municipal Director for Ga West at the event was Apostle Dr Michael Daniel Narh, who said Montessori Model of education helps to nurture school kids and promote cultural exchanges.
