Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has joined Ghanaian community in Austria to celebrate Ghanaian cultural heritage and diaspora unity.
The event held at the Vienna International Centre, on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Implementation Review Group (IRG) session, marked the enstoolment of the Vienna Hemaa (Gyaase Hemaa) and Adonten Hemaa of Austria, leaders of the Asanteman Austria Traditional Council.
Addressing the gathering, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo congratulated the newly enstooled Hemaa and the entire Asanteman Austria for upholding and celebrating Ghanaian customs abroad.
She emphasized the importance of traditional leadership as a source of guidance, unity, and service to the community.
“Leadership in our tradition is not merely symbolic, it is a call to serve, unite, and uplift our people,” she stated.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo called on members of the Ghanaian diaspora to maintain solidarity, support one another, and actively contribute to national development.
Highlighting the impact of the diaspora in Austria, she praised their social and economic contributions to both Ghanaian and Austrian societies and encouraged Ghanaian youth living abroad to take pride in their cultural identity and approach the future with purpose and ambition.

The Deputy Chief of Staff also lauded the efforts of the Asanteman Austria Executive Council and Ghana’s Ambassador to Austria, H.E. Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyeman, for their continued commitment to promoting Ghanaian values and culture.
In her remarks, the Ghana Ambassador to Austria, H.E. Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyeman, reaffirmed Ghana’s constitutional protection of cultural expression and traditional authority.
“Our constitution guarantees every citizen the right to enjoy, profess, and promote any culture, tradition, or religion,” she noted.
She highlighted the constitutional recognition of the chieftaincy institution as a custodian of Ghana’s customary values and expressed the Embassy’s pride in welcoming Nana Oye Bampoe Addo to the cultural celebration.
The event served as both a cultural milestone and a testament to the enduring spirit of the Ghanaian diaspora, emphasizing the role of tradition in shaping community leadership, identity, and national pride beyond Ghana’s borders.
The event drew a wide range of guests, including dignitaries, community leaders, and members of the diplomatic corps.
