Unemployed nurses have gathered in front of Parliament House to protest over the delay of their posting ahead of the mid-year budget review presentation on Monday, July 25, 2022.

According to the nurses, some of their colleagues have received their posting leaving a chunk of them at home.

“We are here because the Ministry of Finance has rendered us useless. Today we are here and we want them to know that they should post us. In fact, they have issued a clearance and they [must] post us.

“We want the Ministry of Finance to capture us in the budget. We are also Ghanaians who have completed school with our certificates and when we speak to the authorities. It is one assurance after the other,” one of the protesters, Rose Adu-Gyamfi disclosed.

The Unemployed nurses further stated that they have completed school for over three years now with a job.

“On the 10th of November 2021 when the portal was open for us to access it and up till now, it is close to nine months now and nothing has happened. After accessing the portal we have not heard anything and when the portal was opened, the Ministry of Finance assured us that by December we will start work. They keep on assuring us every day.

“Last month, we wanted to embark on a second demonstration and the Minister for Health called our leaders to hold on with the demonstration and that July we will assume work. Today’s date is what?” they quizzed.
