Litigant in 23-yr- old Adjiriganor land dispute call for peace

By Patrick Biddah

Accusation and counter accusations between two companies over large tracts of land at Adjiringanor seem to have drained the disputing parties.

This is because, one of the parties, Topkings company which won  cases at three appellate Courts, including the Supreme Court  against Empire Builders company Limited which is the other party, is calling for truce.

At a press conference over the weekend, the General Manager for Topkings Enterprises Limited , Dr Benjamin K .Danso, noted that they won a court case at the Supreme Court over 562 acres of land which should put  the issue to rest and expect Empire Builders company Limited to respect the Court judgment.

His call is in view of an alleged demolition of 30 facilities on portions of the disputed land by the Empire Builders company Limited recently.

Making this call In his response to a question during open forum on the way forward, he said they are tired and expect that a Supreme Court judgement of 2020  which went in their favor, should end the matter in order for them to  live in peace.

For the past 23 years, these two entities have been at it fighting over who has the right  of ownership over large tracts of   land which is located off the Tema motorway.

He among others claimed that the Police at a point have been helpless in enforcing the Court judgement and believe the tussle over the land, has been settled by the Apex Court.

But reacting to the call by the management of Topkings Company for peace and the need to respect the Supreme Court judgment, the General Manager In charge of  Cooperate for the Empire Builders , Kwame Owusu Danso, welcomed the need for peace, but expressed a contrary view on the Supreme Court judgment , saying it has been  interpreted wrongly.

According to him , the Court did not give judgment in their favour to cover the land they are claiming.

He said the judgement which went in their favour covers 62 acres of land which they have developed into residential property.

He further explained that the judgment also reverted the rest of the land to government and the Nungua stool .

Mr Owusu Danso who was addressing the media, also indicated that Empire Builders company Limited then went to both the Nungua Stool and the government and acquired a total of 114 acres.

He told Journalists there are titles and certificates to that effect and cannot allow Topkings to hide behind the Supreme Court judgment to take what is not theirs.
