Last minute lobbying for John Boadu delays NPP delegates conference

Credible information reaching The Herald is that, New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates attending the conference at the Accra Sports Stadium, have resolved to elect Justine Frimpong Kodua, popularly known as JFK, as their General Secretary.

Their decision, according to this paper’s sources, is giving many elders who want to maintain incumbent General Secretary, John Buadu in office heartache.

The elders on the orders of Jubilee House, are to go all out and talk to influential people amongst the delegates to convince them to change their minds.

Mr Buadu, is said to be facing some stiff opposition from within the party, with accusations that his performance has been abysmal.

This is said to be delaying the start of the National Delegates Conference, as every strategy is being deployed to have the Ashanti Region NPP, change its mind to vote against John Buadu.

Charles Bissiw’s decision to opt out of the race, has been mentioned as a strategy to pass on his numbers to John Buadu, but this appears not to be working for him.

Many have said that, although Mr Bissiw has stepped down, his resignation letter strategically did not declare who the delegates should vote for.

Claims of a possible Ministerial reshuffle among others by the Jubilee House after the NPP conference, has been mentioned as a clever attempt to blackmail government appointees who are delegates to tow the line of the Presidency.

The programme was to start at 9 am, but as it is now, it is not clear when it will start, although many people, including opposition parties the NDC, PNC and others have been invited and are present to give solidarity messages.

More to come…
