The Kwahu Easter festivities are back from a two-year suspension due to COVID-19 restrictions
The annual Kwahu Easter Festival returns this year after it was suspended two years ago due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
With a few days to the celebration, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) said all is set for the event which has over the years attracted both local and foreign attention.
Thousands of people from all walks of life will be travelling to Kwahu in the Eastern Region for the Easter festivities which will boost businesses in the area.
The paragliding, which is one of the major highlights of the Easter festival is expected to generate more money to boost local tourism in Ghana.
According to the Ghana Tourism Authority, all hotels and hospitality facilities within the Kwahu ridge are fully booked and it foresees an influx of people during the festival and has therefore put in measures to make the event incident-free.
Speaking in an interview with Asaase News in Koforidua, the Eastern regional manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority Fredrick Adjei-Rudolph said all events are being coordinated to ensure a successful event.
“The festival coming back after the easing of the COVID-19 restrictions, things need to be done differently so all events have been put together so that the necessary safety and health protocols will be clearly outlined,” he said.
He urged patrons of the programme to ensure that they adhere to all the safety arrangements put in place.
Adjei-Rudolph was hopeful that the number of people attending the festival this year will double after the two-year break.
The festival starts from Thursday 14 April to Monday 18 April.
