Highlife musician Kofi Kinaata says he wants to impact his society and fans positively.

According to the rapper, people must do away with the negative perception associated with stardom.

“One thing I will say is that we have this perception that when you are singing, and it is not gospel, you have to behave someway, you have to drink some stuff, you have to be high on some level, but they will see me normal as Kofi Kinaata, dressed up like the way any normal boy will dress up, but I am the star,” he told Joy Entertainment’s Becky.

He insists that being a celebrity must not always be liked to wrong practices.

Speaking on E Vibes, the award-winning songwriter advised colleagues to be themselves and not do things just because of popularity at the expense of their wellbeing.

“Some people think that Bob Marley was high before he wrote his songs, but Kofi Kinaata is also doing well, he doesn’t smoke, he doesn’t drink, he doesn’t dress anyway. “

He says he is an inspiration for his people, and that is why he avoids certain things to have a positive impact on them.

“At least I am giving the people of Takoradi a musician who is very conscious, who is making an impact but writes songs and does not drink,” he added.

“I also inspire people and tell them they can be an artiste, you can write good songs without doing certain things, but it all depends on you. So they are all part of the inspiration.”

E Vibes is a weekly programme that delves into the background of the country’s celebrated personalities who are doing tremendous work in their chosen field of work.
