Until very recently, especially upon the appointment of Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama as the New Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), buying prepaid credit, has never been an issue of concern, but these days never a month passes without customers of the power distribution company, have to endure the pain of waiting in long queues to buy credit.
Power is the heartbeat of any successful economy in the world but in Ghana, in the last two months, our country has suffered several mini heart attacks as a result of in the inability of consumers to buy credit due to unstable network.
This is despite the fact that the country has excess capacity for both pick and non-pick periods. We are disturbed that, if nothing is done to stop the rampant network failures that have come to be associated with buying prepaid credit, a lot of Ghanaians will be compelled to engage in illegal connection.
This newspaper is of the view that hardworking Ghanaians should not be subjected to emotional and physical deprivation and torture as a result of the hiccups caused by the network failure.
They are already suffocating under the current harsh economic conditions that seem far away from being over soon.
The incompetence of the new Managing Director, has manifested itself more than once. His only solution is to go run his mouth in the media, behaving just like the politicians who appointed him.
Until his assumption of office, consumers of power were never subjected to this dehumanizing experience of queuing for hours unend
A total overhaul of the management of ECG, beginning with the talkertive managing Director, Dubik Masubir Mahama, in our view, is very imperative at this time to prevent this problem of network failure from further sinking its teeth deep into the economic fabric of the country.
