The Founder and Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga, has lauded the economic stewardship of President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing their leadership as a model of fiscal discipline and sound policy-making.
According to Dr Ayariga, the Mahama-led administration’s prudent economic management has led to the stabilization of the Ghanaian Cedi, a development he says has brought relief to various sectors of the economy, particularly importers, traders, entrepreneurs, and consumers.
In a statement issued by the APC leader, Dr Ayariga, called on Ghanaian retailers and wholesalers to reflect the recent economic gains in their pricing strategies. He emphasized that it is both “fair and necessary” for the benefits of a stronger Cedi to be translated into reduced prices of goods and services in the local markets.
“This is not only an act of patriotism but a demonstration of solidarity with the Ghanaian people who have endured economic hardships,” he stated. “Lower prices will improve the standard of living, drive consumer demand, and further stimulate economic growth.”
Dr Ayariga, further appealed to the business community to partner with government efforts in building an economy that is “strong, inclusive, and equitable.”
The APC leader’s remarks come at a time when Ghana is witnessing relative currency stability, prompting calls for a trickle-down effect on the prices of commodities and essential goods.
