Captain Smart arrested after Media Commission Statement

The police administration has announced the arrest of radio broadcaster, Captain Smart.

A statement issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Juliana Obeng of the Police Public Relations Unit, Greater Accra said the Nima Divisional Police Command today, Thursday, December 2, 2021, picked up Blessed Godsbrain Smart popularly known as “Captain Smart”.

He is the host of Onua TV/FM morning show in Accra.

Captain Smart was arrested for allegedly making “some unsavoury pronouncements that hinge on peace and security.”

Ahead of his arrest, the Media Commission through its Executive Secretary had issued a statement saying the broadcaster had made inciteful comments by calling “for an insurrection against the state of Ghana and its institutions”.

George Sarpong, described the alleged conduct as “unprofessional”.
