The Municipal Chief Executives for the Ga East Municipal Assembly, Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, seems to be in the news lately for the wrong reasons.
This time, she has come under pressure for disrespecting a directive by the Greater Accra regional Minister, Mr. Henry Quartey, over the re- construction of a shop she wrongly demolished which belonged to the Kwabenya Queenmother, Naa Korkor Dugbartey.
The Kwabenya Queenmother, whose two shops were demolished wrongly by a task force in an uncoordinated demolishing exercise last year, petitioned the Greater Accra regional Minister, Mr Quartey over the matter.
A municipal security meeting went into the complaint and established that the shops were wrongfully demolished.
The MCE, in the company of the Queenmother was ordered to reconstruct the shops which were located on the Ga East hospital road .
But a year on, the shops have not been built, which has provoked the Queenmother and heightening an already bad blood between the Queenmother and the MCE.
Speaking in an interview with The Herald , the Queenmother entreated the Regional Minister to know that his directive has not been adhered to.
According to the Queenmother, the regional Minister should not allow himself to be disrespected by the MCE, by getting her to put up the shops as directed.
As a traditional ruler, Naa Korkor Dugbartey, indicated that she owes it a duty to bring development and improve the livelihood of her people, but the demolished shop has rendered her incapable to attend to the welfare and economic issues of her household and that of other defendants.
Known in private life as Harriet Quartey, the Queenmother urged Mr Henry Quartey to ensure that her shops are constructed for her as soon as possible.
She has threatened to settle the matter in a traditional court if her legitimate request is not granted.
But when The Herald reached out to the MCE for Ga East , Elizabeth Kaakie Mann for her reaction, she lost her cool and said the Queenmother, should exercise patience and that it will be built for her .
In a raised voice, she then shortly made a u-turn and denied ever demolishing the shops.
