Dear Sir,
I am a delusioned and disappointed citizen of the Republic of Ghana, wondering exactly, what has gone wrong with the country, particularly security.
I do not understand why an innocent Ghanaian, will be murdered in cold blood since 2019 and a country of over 30 million, can’t find his assailants.
I have thought and thought really hard about this, yet answers of all sorts have eluded me, leaving me with no alternative, but to cry out to you for this urgent help. I have come; please do hear me out Sir.
Sir, before I proceed, let me tell you a secret. The government of the day, has shown little interest in finding the killers of Ahmed Hussein Suale and so, if you must know, left to them, this murder will be added to the long list of unresolved murders that continue to question our sensibilities as a people.
Sir, for more than two years, we have all slept on our responsibilities, when we allowed criminals, who are social miscreants to commit a heinous crime and are home free.
Sir, whenever anyone is appointed into position of authourity, the expectation is that, they will a legacy that will outlast them and become a reference point for generations yet unborn.
You have a unique opportunity to write your name in the Hall of Fame of eminent Ghanaians, who defied all odds to bring relief and smile to the faces of the destitute, under-privilege and the weakest link in our society.
Sir, I do not wish to conceal anything within the reach of my memory because really, there is nothing to conceal, as the case file will contain just a leaf, because nothing much has been done on finding the killers of Ahmed Hussein Suale.
It is true a lay man like me may not understand the intricacies and complexities of a murder investigation, but I do understand the psychological effect the country’s inability to investigate thoroughly his murder and bring the perpetrators to justice is having on his family.
Dear Sir, as I pen this letter to you, the young family of Ahmed Suale left behind, is disintegrating, the father figure who used to rally everyone around is no more and the justice they so much deserve has eluded them.
Sir, my eyes can shed no tear, only my heart bleeds right now, and it bleeds with unusual profusion. I am saddened not only because the security services, especially your outfit has gone silence on the case, but the silence approval of majority of Ghanaians, who have all soon forgotten about him and are going about their normal duties.
Time, Sir, they say heals, but how can time heal this wound, when a young man of less than 40 years, is murdered and it is rumored that he died because of what he does, not only to feed his family, but to help sanitise our system, which has become corrupt.
Sir, the extent of my heartbreak is indescribable! Herein lies my major frustration and the cardinal reason for staying awake to pen this missive to you.
You cannot possibly imagine the painstaking task that comes with informing his children when they are of age that, their father was murdered and the country, he so much loved and worked for, could not apprehend his assailants. How, Sir, can these children be patriotic?
Sir, a lot of expected you on your appointment to chart a new path, a paradigm shift from what used to be, a swift and decisive action to solving lingering murders and bringing to closure, so that their relations, can move on, but it has been how many years now and you are yet to move on even a single case.
Sir, I must commend you for your swift response to the Ghana Statistical Service’s corruption report, which put your institution as the most corrupt in Ghana. You see the dispatch with which you came hard at the GSS, is the same we expect of you when it comes to issue of crim.
Sir, as a reminder, Ahmed Suale Hussein, was murdered January 16, 2019, when he was called home to attend to his sick child.
In the first place, Ahmed Suale, did not deserve to die the way he did. Although, it is God, who gives life and takes it, everyone deserves a death of dignity. This accounts for why every Friday whilst praying in the Mosque, I often do ask Almighty Allah, for His forgiveness for questioning the quality of leaders, he has given this country.
Sir, August 4, the country celebrated Founders Day, the day was declared a holiday, but Sir, I do not think when our forbears fought for that day, they did so knowing that, a day and time will come when criminals will run riot and the Police Force, cannot guarantee justice to the afflicted.
Sir, I have read on so many websites of your promise to the families of the couple, who died under mysterious circumstances at Maakro near Abuakwa in Kumasi of the best of investigations.
According to JoyNews source close to the family, you called the mother of the late Ernestina Jackson on phone to commiserate with the family, and assured the family that the Police will “get to the bottom of the matter.
Sir, I hope the story is not true, because I am finding it difficult to believe it. How many unresolved cases are on your desk, in which the families were promised justice? The Police never get to the bottom of any matter. So to raise the hopes of the family is simply unacceptable.
Sir, time erases evidence, the more justice is delayed, then it is certainly denied. You have done well so far, your crowing moment as the Chief Constable of the Ghana Police, will be when you apprehend the killers of Ahmed Suale and bring them to face the full rigors of the law.
The case predates you, but the responsibility is now on you to ensure that, the death of Ahmed Suale, will not be on our collective conscience.
There have been times, when I have been tempted to ask God, why he had placed so many people in a country, who fail to be each other’s keeper.
Was creating Ghana and all of the people in it an error of significant proportion, because nothing makes sense in this country? We don’t value human life.
Sir, considering the urgency of this call, I shall be expecting a swift reaction to this letter, please. As we used to sing in Secondary School, George Akuffo Dampare, ‘Do something before you die’
