The principal elder of the Akwanor family at Ashalaja in the Greater Accra region, Emmanuel Nii Awuley Quarcoo, has alleged that some unseen hands are planning to kill elders of Ashalaja with the aim of taking their lands.
He said, some unscrupulous persons who claim ownership of the lands who were defeated in court over the Ashalaja lands, are peeved and have been planning to eliminate all the elders to forcibly take their lands.
This revelation, follows the gruesome murder of Nii Oshiepi ( Chief of Staff ) of the Akwanor Royal family
Addressing a press conference yesterday, the principal elder, said they are not taking the death of the Oshiepi lightly and are therefore urging the police to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book.
Already, six suspects have been picked up by the Police in connection with the murder of Nii Oshiepi, who was gunned down on March 6 , 2022.
“The said suspects, who are in the custody of the Police, were remanded by the District Magistrate Court, Adjabeng on the 10th March, 2022”, he stressed.
He appealed to the general public to volunteer information to enable the police to unravel this unfortunate incident.
“We also entreat all members of this family to remain calm as the Police conduct their investigation into the matter. We the Akwanor Royal Family believe in the work the Police are doing”, he added.
According to him, the sentencing of the suspects after a successful investigation, will serve as a deterrent to others.
A press release issued by the police named the suspects as, Rashid Mohammed alias “Gizzo”, Brown Akwanor , Nii Ohene, Ayitey Animle alias “Asa Brother “, and Mushe Akwanor.
The late Nii Oshiepi was 42 years and left behind a wife and 10 children, some of whom are adopted.
