The Bawku Naba, Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has called for the arrest of one Alhaji Adam, who parades himself as a regent of Bawku.
At a press conference to condemn the recent daylight shooting that claimed the lives of three persons, the Bawku Naba, who said he has been disheartened over the incident, called for the arrest of the self-acclaimed regent.

A PRESS RELEASE BY THE ZUGRAAN, BAWKU-NABA AND PRESIDENT OF THE KUSAUG TRADITIONAL COUNCIL, ASIGRI ABUGRAGO AZOKA II IN RESPECT OF THE OF THE 23RD AND 24TH SHOOTING INCIDENTS IN BAWKU HELD ON 24TH JANUARY 2022 AT THE PALACE OF THE OVERLORD
INTRODUCTION
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Media, I warmly welcome you for responding to my call for this very important press conference. On my behalf and on behalf of the good people of Kusaug and the Kusaug Traditional Council, I wish to thank all for your prompt response to my call to cover this all-important interaction with the media in relations to the shooting incidents that we witnessed on the 23rd and 24th of January,2022.
I the overlord of Kusaug and the Kusaug Traditional Council, under my leadership has called you today to address the Ghanaian people through your respected medium and to put forward our views on the recent happenings in Bawku and its environs on the 23th and 24thJanuary,2022 as stated above which led to the loss of precious lives and properties.
Our Respected Media Men and Women, I the Zugraan and overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Council and the whole of the Kusaug kingdom is disgusted, disheartened and deeply saddened by yesterday and today’s shooting that erupted in Bawku, leading to the loss of precious lives and the destruction of properties. These losses were needless to say the least and should not have happened at all.
Ladies and Gentlemen,I have always admonished and pleaded with my people to stay calm and not to ignite the conflict on the first sight of provocations by the Mamprusis in Bawku who are
ready and eager to foment trouble in Bawku to disrupt the peace the good people of Bawku are enjoying.
The Press,it is very needful and imperative to state that, most other ethnic groups in Bawku are in the heart of Bawku township, hence the minority Mumprusi Settlers have always sought their support with intimidation into their loss struggle over the Bawku Skin. It is public knowledge that this is a loss struggle and for that matter, an attempt to disrupt the peace of the land and to discontinue the peaceful co-existence among and between the other ethnic groups in Bawku and the Kusaasis.
As a result of this and for that matter, their attempt to incite the Moshie’s and other ethnic groups in Bawku to assist them to fight for the Bawku Skin which they know both legally and traditional that it is unattainable. They first and foremost attacked and killed one Mr. Awudu Welder, a prominent gas welder and the vice president of Moshies association (BUUDI YELLE) in Bawku who is a Moshie by tribe.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, their plan to incite the Moshie’s failed hence they the Mamprusis clandestinely planned again and attacked a group of Moshie’s in town at the Goil Filling Station where there are activities of an unauthorized Foreign Exchange Base on 23rd January,2022, where people were shot leading to some casualties hence the sporadic shooting incidence in Bawku.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, these are facts that can be substantiated.Information has it that, the attackers after shooting fled through the Bawku central market and it was at the same time some other hoodlums from the Mamprusis attacked the Kusaasis at Sieng-Natinga and simultaneously at other Kusaasi communities within the Bawku Municipality.
Distinguished Media Personnel, Ladies and Gentlemen,I wish to state without any contradiction that, we the Kusasis do not have any issue with the Moshies or any other ethnic group in Bawku and will never engage in any form of violent confrontation with them. We have never and will never consider them as our foes or enemies and I want to state that clearly for everyone to know.
Based on this, Ladies and Gentlemen,I wish to called on the security agencies to investigate and bring the perpetrators of this criminal act to book and allow the law to act accordingly.
Let me state that we never and will never attack any ethnic group that is not challenging the legitimacy of the Bawku Naba and the skin of Kusaug but will ever defend our legitimacy to the skin if anyone dare attack us.
It is worth noting that, we the Kusaasis have lived and co-existed with all ethnic groups in Bawku, hence as peace loving people, we will continue to co-exist with all peace-loving ethnic groups in Bawku.
However, as a peace-loving as we are, we will not in any way tolerate any form of disrespect,disregard and insubordination from any quarters in relation to the Bawku skin.
The Press, Ladies and Gentlemen,I wish to use your platform to call for calm and to admonished that we allow peace and normalcy to return to Bawku for peaceful co-existence among and between us for people to go about their daily activities without any hindrance.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, I will therefore call on the security agencies to do the needful by arresting the so- called regent of the Mamprusis and other war mongers who publicly stated before the Regional Police Commander and other security capons in the region and beyond on their visit to the so-called regents house, where some disgruntled youth of the Mamprusis settlers made unsavory comments on that faithful day without accorded respect to the security heads.
It was on this same day that one Majeed Bagura categorically stated without any fear or respect for the state security that, the postponement of the performance of the funeral rite of their so-called chief meant the postponement of the conflict in Bawku.
