Since the minister of Finance first announced the intention of the government to construct the National Cathedral, it has been in the news for different reasons, mostly the wrong ones.
Among the reason ones have been the expose’ by the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa that Rev Kusi Boateng is the third “mystery” director of JNS Talent Centre Limited, a firm he had earlier accused of receiving GH¢2.6 million illegal cash transfer from the Secretariat.
According to him, “Unimpeachable and incontrovertible evidence confirms that Mr. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is the famous Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng who still serves on the National Cathedral Board as an Executive Council Member/Director,” the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP disclosed.
“For the avoidance of doubt, there is no distinct Kwabena Adu Gyamfi. Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is a criminal creation of Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng. The two are therefore one and the same.
“Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi thought he had outwitted every Ghanaian, particularly our authorities whom he dribbled for many years; but the day of reckoning is finally here.”
This mind-blowing revelation was followed with a leak letter from Dag Heward Mills, who resigned from the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral project in August 2022.
As part of his reasons for resigning, Bishop Heward-Mills, expressed disappointment at the leadership of the National Cathedral for ignoring concerns he raised in several letters he wrote to them with the recent one being in June 2022 through the Ghana Charismatic Bishops’ Conference.
Another board member, the immediate past moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Professor Cephas Omenyo, has also resigned, bringing the number of pastors who have left the board to three, because the first to resign was Pastor Mensah Otabil.
All of these are happening because the present administration has failed to do the needful as regard listening to the concerns of the people, who are saying building a cathedral at this time of austerity is not necessary.
With the above narration and the sequence of event , there is no gainsaying the fact that, the national cathedral is bound to fail. A House of God, is being built on lies and controversies.
In the considered opinion of this newspaper, Duncan Williams should emulate his colleagues, who think they is everything wrong with the national cathedral, except he is still on the board for his personal and parochial interest.
We commend the bold stands of Dag Heward Mills, like Pontius Pilate, he chose to wash his hands from the sin that is being committed In the name of God.
The men of God, who are still on the board, owe themselves a duty to God and man to stay away from the ever unfolding scandal that is taking the country by storm.
