A motivational speaker and minister of the gospel, Dr Rev Nana Yaa Owusu Prempeh, has declared her intention to contest the Okaikwe North parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party for the 2024 election.
She said, she will be picking theforms when the nomination are opened for aspirants seeking to contest various parliamentary primaries positions on the ticket of the NPP.
With this declaration, she will be slugging out with the former Member of Parliament for the area , Mr Fuseini Issah, who is staging a comeback after losing the seat to the National Democratic Congress candidate, Madam Theresa Awuni.
Ace Journalist, Mr Ken Kuranchie, who lost in the primaries to the former MP, is also expected to put in another bid.
Declaring her intention over the weekend during a breast cancer screening exercise , she said it is time to occupy other public positions to give more back to the society.
She said all the experiences she has gathered from home and abroad in life while working with people will be brought to benefit the larger society when she gets into politics.
The breast cancer screening exercise which was the second in this month after the first one was done at the Abofu Presbyterian Church on October 18, 2022 was organized by the Women In Leadership International( W.I.L.I) in collaboration with Nana Yaa Owusu Prempeh Foundation.
Over 100 participants, .mostly traders ranging between the ages of 40 and 60 turned up to be screened.
A man and two other teenagers also availed themselves for the screening which took place at the Pentecost School center located at Lapaz.
There were first timers as well as those who came to check for the second time.
Speaking to Journalists, Dr Owusu Prempeh, advised women and young ladies to take advantage of such free screening exercises to know their status.
According to her, it affords them the opportunity to seek further medical attention if need be.
“ The lump starts small which is why when it is detected early can be removed but the problem has always been late detection”, she pointed out.
She encouraged women to be doing examinations at home in order to notice changes.
She announced that a blood donation exercise and a full medical screening exercise, would be carried next month for the people in the constituency.
