Ghana have been eliminated from the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after a 4-1 loss to the Netherlands in their final group match on Wednesday.
The Black Princesses fell short of expectations once more, as they were soundly beaten by the Dutch team, their sixth consecutive group stage elimination. Black Princesses have never advanced past the group stage.
Following losses to the United States and Japan, Ghana had a slim chance of advancing from the group. The Black Princesses needed to beat the Netherlands by at least four goals and hope that Japan beat the US by at least two goals.
Japan did their job by impressively beating the United States 3-1 to finish top of Group D with a perfect record, but the Netherlands outclassed Ghana.
Ghana end the tournament with no points after conceding nine and scoring one.
