Takwa MP Supports Over 400 Women With Soft Loans; Commissions Major Infrastructure Projects

Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker, together with the Coastal Development Authority (CODA) have breathe life into Nsuaem Methodist M/A Basic School, which collapsed sometime last year, leaving students and teachers stranded without classroom to learn.

This, has been a cause of worry for many, not only for the students and teachers, but also the entire community, forcing the MP, to intervene by constructing a new structure for the school.

The project, which started in June this year after sod-cutting was eventually commissioned on Friday, November 26, 2021 by the MP, together with officials of CODA and chiefs,as the newly built Ultra-Modern 6-Unit Classroom Block was handed over to the good people of Nusaem amidst wild jubilation.

Interest-Free Loans

The MP, who is also a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, put a smile on the faces of some women in his Constituency by offering them interest-free loans worth Two-Hundred and Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 205, 000).

The women, numbering over 405, were selected across the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency to grow their businesses and other entrepreneurship drives. The brief ceremony to disburse the loan was held at Old Municipal Assembly Hall.

The latest disbursement, is the second phase from an earlier one made somewhere in August 13, 2021, where he offered same soft loan worth GH₵100,000 to about 200 women.

In his address, the MP, admonished the beneficiaries to engage in legitimate and sustainable businesses, in order to grow their capital, as he wished them a successful business.

Meanwhile, Mr Mireku Duker, also commissioned a 20-seater Water Closet with 8-bathroom facilities for the good people of Tarkwa Na Aboso, a project he started in less than a year.

At a gathering of Chiefs and people of Tarkwa Na Aboso, the MP, reiterated his commitment for the development of Tarkwa-Nsuaem.

Handing over the project to the community

Both the Assembly member and opinion leaders in their speech, commended the MP, as well as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Benjamin Kessie for such a timely intervention and completion of the facility, as they assured that they would keep properly maintain the project.

He also used the occasion to donate an industrial sewing machine to a young talented young lady, who needed support to start her fashion and design business. This gesture is in response to a plea made by the young lady through her social media, Facebook Post.

The MP gave assurance that, himself together with the government will continue to provide the needed infrastructural development Tarkwa-Nsuaem deserves, while delivering on social interventions as well.
