Ministry alerts public: old passport application platform no longer functional

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has issued a crucial notice to passport applicants who began the process before the rollout of Ghana’s new chip-embedded passports on April 28, 2025.

In a public announcement dated July 4, 2024, the Ministry, highlights that the old passport application portal is now out of service, affecting applicants who had paid but not completed their application.

These individuals, according to the announcement, are advised to promptly contact the Passport Office Client Service Unit via 0302 754 200 for assistance in completing their process.

The Ministry emphasized that the official and active platform for all passport applications remains passport.mfa.gov.gh.

Authorities are urging affected applicants to act swiftly to avoid further delays, as the transition to chip-embedded passports is now fully in effect.
