Ex-President John Dramani Mahama, on Thursday, 21st April 2022 visited the Heward-Mills family to express his condolences, that of his wife Lordina and his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to Bishop Dag and his spouse, Lady Rev. Adelaide on the loss of their son, Dr. David Heward-Mills.
“Losing your child is a painful experience. Bishop Dag, his family and the church’s loss is our loss. We all feel the deep pain”, said a post the ex-President posted on his official Facebook page.
In the company of the NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, ex-Chief of Staff, Julius Debra, former Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr among others.
Dag Heward-Mills, an evangelist, pastor and author is the founder and presiding Bishop of the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group.
His son, Dr. David died at the age of 31 on Easter Friday in the United States of America.
Last Sunday, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, shared his thoughts for the first time after the death of his son at a sermon.
The bishop titled his sermon, ‘The grave is not the end’, and described the death of his son as a situation that makes “everything” meaningless.
“My son David just passed away. It spoils everything. You ask me am I sad? If you had a son who died, will you be sad? You should ask yourself that question. It spoils everything. It brings a funny environment and it makes nonsense of everything. We always try to wish it further and further away but that is how it is.”
David, was a Research Physician at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Galveston.
For close to two years, David was a resident physician at Prisma Health, Columbia in the U.S.
